hard to say. I think ideally people should be able to look at their own reflection and be proud of what they are, even if it's a version that doesn't match up with a societal "ideal" body type. neglection would probably make things much, much worse.
it's tricky to give good advice on the topic of body managment since I haven't had to go out of my way to deal with it, but at least if I'm going to talk about it, I'll just say that the best thing to do is be non-judgemental for everyone besides yourself. It's not any of my business. It's yours.
