As I argue in Philosophy of Antifascism, Sartre and Beauvoir both had important things to say on this point, although they really would have benefited from engaging Du Bois's work (which wouldn't have been beyond the realm of possibility given their friendship with Richard Wright).

The discourse around Elon Musk's Nazi salutes (including now Musk using it to make Nazi "jokes") reminds me of the always relevant Sartre quote on anti-Semites. It is all a game to the far right, meant to push the boundaries of what is considered normal and socially acceptable.
