Had to catch up to the series since everyone (including literally my cats’ veterinarian) has been begging me to read it. I continue to be pleasantly surprised with the disabled rep, my qualms with the writing style aside
Last year I decided to dive back into my childhood fixation on anything paleobiology. This has definitely been one of the easiest so far for me to parse as someone with no formal background in the field. Mark Witton’s writing style manages to be so entertaining even with the density of information!
I have soooooo much personal beef with SJM for her writing style and the general lack of editing in this series, but I will hand it to her: she knows how to create a larger plot structure. I liked this a LOT more than the first one.
As a former theatre girlie, I was VERY concerned about this adaptation lol. They butchered the pacing of Defying Gravity, but on the whole, I was impressed! The costumes and wig work alone were worth a second watch.
