The dems actually reached out to red states during the 50-state strategy of the mid-2000s. They got to the point where they had a majority in state legislatures nationwide.

Then the DNC chair's term expired, the consultants came back in, and it all withered away.

Your posts are accurate. They make me question my bias. I hope we all fight for the rights of everyone in every state. MAGA has divided us as blue state, red state on purpose -divide & conquer. Also, it gives gerrymandered states an easy out from scrutiny in terms investigating voter suppression.

You're so right! In 2024 my red state had a 26 year low in the number of Democrats running for statewide office and half the average number typically running. Democrats have been virtually invisible in state policy. And yet yesterday small towns saw hundreds turn out for Hands Off protests. Hmmm

I've been saying this for years. Democrats didn't lose half the country and the working class because of just poor messaging. It was a lack of messaging. Time to start talking to deep red states again without the elitism. Be humble. Talk to them at their level, not yours

I agree. As a dem in Florida, I see lots of potential and a huge missed opportunity for dems. This is a red state with a huge number of non-voters. There is a large enough liberal population that wants to grow. I think Florida has just been written off because it’s considered a red state.

Senator Warren did a people's town hall in Nashville yesterday. I went and am hopeful that she'll take back what she saw and heard to DC. Our local reps said as much to her yesterday as well.

The unfortunate thing is that I think most Democratic parties in red states are compromised and mah be controlled by Republicans.

Exhibit A: The total lack of action by North Carolina Dems to keep the state supreme court in 2022. A party does not passively give up the courts naturally.
