Broadly, the debate DOES NOT matter by now.
DC is excellent for small layout where running just 1-3 engines is all you'll be doing. Practically trouble free.
DCC is perfect for more complex layouts and consists. Also if you want controllable sound, you'll want DCC.
An NCE powercab is ideal.

DC has its place yes, but I think many modelers now will want to upgrade eventually.

By today's standards it is underpowered, lacks features, and is severely outdated. A DCC beginner in 2024 and beyond has no reason to consider it. There are better options for the same money.
