Carney pulled Canada out of the economic crisis of 2008/09 when he was the governor of the Bank of Canada. Both Harper and Trudeau used him as an advisor. He is what we need to fight Trump
Most critical time in our history. Do we put our trust in a man who has been head of the central bank in two G7 countries or a man endorsed by Jordan Petersen and Elon Musk who had a paper rout and was a bill collector for Telus. Where do I put my X?
Grew up in the UK and while I didn’t pay that close attention to him back then, but from what I do remember he is mostly thought well of and did a decent job.
His term there was during the Brexit and the Conservatives hated that an outsider was appointed over their choice and he turned the tide on losses. They hated that even more. What you will see in the rag newspapers over there is just rage against a foreigner and his success.
I have a lot of relatives in the UK, politics vary but their view of him was generally favourable to very favourable. I follow UK news as well and I always liked him, being anti Brexit being a bonus.
Not true. He was given a difficult job- keep the UK economy moving during Brexit-which he did well. Not everyone liked him. Many disagred with him, but his calm competency gained the respect and gratitude of most in the UK. He never became a hate figure unlike many during that fractious time.
He was also asked to stay as Governor of the Bank of England beyond his originally agreed tenure. That speaks to how well regarded he was in the UK. He agreed (despite, as we now know, having political ambitions back home in Canada). That speaks to his sense of duty.
He warned them not to Brexit. Made him unpopular there but they are suffering the consequences he warned about. He was recently interviewed by BBC about Trump. He has a lot of respect in the EU and that may help Canada.
That Trump was bullying Canada and assumed we would cave to his threats - Carney said Canada would never give in to trump’s threats, that we were strong, united and would retaliate
UK here - he did very well too. He's calm, strategic and predictable - quite the opposite of the nightmare with which the US has inexplicably burdened itself.

He openly warned UK citizens that Brexit would be bad for their economy. He was vilified for it and was proven right.
