My cat threw up twice the first day in our new apartment, both times on the carpet. Any time there’s a change to his routine he becomes concerned that he will suddenly have to compete for his food and starts scarfing it down without chewing. For a long time this included when someone slept over
I once heard my dog start to retch, so I actually moved him to a cleanable floor surface, but he just turned around to hurl on the carpet... Like someone else said, I think they do associate it with like pseudo-grass.
This partially which explains why my dog will sometimes compulsively start eating the carpet, which I now know to interpret as a signal to take him outside where he'll gorge on that thick grass (weirdly, not the nicer stuff) until he's content. Vets never could explain it.
The weirdest thing happened yesterday. I was sitting on the edge of the bathtub and the cat hopped into the tub behind me and horked up a hairball. *in the empty tub*. I swear this really happened. Weirdest shit I ever saw.
Mom caught our Irish setter after eating the cookies out of box she neatly opened in the kitchen. Mom yells at the dog and she took off. She chased her through the dining room, living room, hallway and into the bathroom where the dog put her head in the toilet and vomited up the entire batch.
I used to have a cat who would do her best to get to the litterbox if she was going to throw up. I was so shocked when I realized what she was doing. Now one of my cats seems to make a beeline for the carpet. -_-
Maybe dogs do it on purpose, hear me out. They eat everything in order to get sick so they can purposefully barf on your carpet and nice bedsheets. They do it just to anger you. They know what they are doing. Ijs.
My dads pitbull used to get carsick when she was still around. I always kept a bucket and mint oil in the back seat and Id rub her back while she would occasionally sniff the mint oil. Caught her vom in the bucket, but she definitely threw up less
I have a small elderly dog. When the walks were not timed well, he typically poops in the walk-in shower. Nice, tidy pile of clearly couldn't wait any more. Easily santized.
When he's angry, he squeezes out poop that was not at all ready (wet) in the middle of the carpeted hallway or bedroom floor.
I once gave my cat some wet food out of a little container and they threw it back up into the container and then flipped the container upside down on the carpet so that if I picked it up it would go everywhere,

My dogs barf in my lap so count yourself lucky.
You've guessed right 😅
So I said "show me" and she'd had a massive crap in the middle of the kitchen floor.
If she needed to go it was the best place. I wasn't mad at all.
