The new owners of VPNSecure are canceling lifetime subscriptions, saying their acquisition netted them “the tech, the brand, and the infrastructure/technology—but none of the company, contracts, payments, or obligations from the previous owners.”

I'd advise anyone looking for a VPN to compare the deals that are on offer and to check out vendors on Trust Pilot or similar, to hear about user experiences. My experiences with VPN vendors have convinced me that many of them are run by criminal gangs.
This isn't the first time I've heard of a company claiming they didn't inherit the obligations from the previous owner of what they just bought, but I can't remember the details of the last time.
"Wait a sec, I made a mortgage payment a month ago. Are you telling me that this is going to happen *every* month?!?
Well heck I didn't know about that!"
Bank: "Oh you didn't? Well that's ok then, we'll cancel the rest of them. The house is yours now."
No you're not wealthy, so you have to pay. But wealthy people can ignore the laws and contracts and don't have to pay because they were smart enough to have way more money than you so nothing applies to them
And that's a great system and not at all a total failure of society!
Reminds me of when Minecraft sold to Microsoft. I was a beta backer, and we were told in checkout that we'd never again have to pay for Minecraft in perpetuity. Alas, he got rich though.
Wait! This could work out for us later.
When we kick the interregnum out of DC, we can use this same concept to cancel all of musky’s govt contracts immediately.
You know they’ve sign for multiple decades at extortionate amounts.
It's only fair. The Trump/Musk administration already acts like the U.S. is not beholden to any deals made by past administrations, even those made by the Trump/Pence administration.
