Trump administration cuts are threatening the National Geodetic Survey, a tiny but crucial office within the NOAA that maintains the US’s framework of spatial information: latitudes, longitudes, elevation measurements, and more.

If Trump doesn't understand it or value it, it gets cut. Since he doesn't understand anything, then everything is fair game 4 his hatchet. That is, except 4 tax gimmes to the 1%. He understands that and values it, and anything else that makes him look good (or so he thinks). He is a royal POS.
As the world turns more toward operations that need precise coordinate systems like the ones NGS provides (think robotaxis), the science that underpins this office’s activities, experts say, is becoming even more crucial.
The NGS’s work “is kind of like oxygen. You don’t know you need it until it’s not there,” Tim Burch, the executive director of the National Society of Professional Surveyors, says.
That's what a lot of our federal government is–full of a lot of obscure but sophisticated operations that keep us healthy, wealthy, and safe. But MAGA doesn't want that. They want guns and prayers, just like an astute man said.
Investing in science is actually good and efficient? 🤯 Quick, someone tell the people who want to privatize everything and just demolished taxpayer investments!

That’s how stupid we are for putting this evil grifting weasel in charge of the executive branch.
