Final ONS weekly deaths data for 2024 was released this morning. 563,762 deaths registered in the year.
For the first time since the onset of the pandemic, the number of deaths is consistent with the 2010-19 trend.

I find 563,732 for "England, Wales and non-residents" in Table 5.
A tiny difference, just checking I have the correct data :)

FWIW, you get the same result against a more detailed baseline including both trend in mortality rates and population changes (excess ~ -1%)
AND
It seems that, at last, reporting by registration will roughly match again that by occurrence again :-)
