A Con-Lib coalition was proposed in 1951, partly to give more legitimacy as Labour won the popular vote; I can't remember off-hand why it was rejected. SNP-LD in Scotland was proposed in 2007 but failed as I don't think there'd have had been room to disagree over an independence referendum.
