you would be appalled at rhyming children's books, which often have terrible meter and lazy rhyming. it helped me appreciate how good Dr Seuss was at it

One of my favorite examples of poetry in video games is the use of iambic pentameter in the War of the Lions translation of FF Tactics: "This war had brought our house its chance to rule. He would but watch as hist'ry passed us by. His due I granted him, no more, no less." goes HARD

free verse made me hate poetry entirely and i have never recovered. Meter and rhyme are so important to me.
