My mom’s parents grew up on Illinois farms. My mom remembers how they’d haul the cans of raw milk down to the road to be picked up by the milk truck for processing at the local dairy.

The taste you liked was the milk fat. Just buy unhomogenized milk, and skip the pathogens.
The unhomogenized stuff can be, sadly, tricky to find.
Before that the best treatment was to surgically collapse the lung to allow the lesions to heal.
It’s not like gambling whether one cow in the herd just got asymptomatic bovine TB which you’re now putting in your throat.
but since all that oversight is going away, that roulette table’s going to get less friendly day by day :/
