Lately when people tell me "We have to live our lives," what I really hear is "I have to live my life & I don't want you to make me feel bad about doing that at the expense of vulnerable folks"

I hear, when they say that, ‘I am ok if your loved one or you die, as long as I get to live as if was 2019’
(Like there is not a myriad of respiratory viruses hyper-circulating in society.)
It’s so hurtful especially when I’ve given up my old career, theatres, museums and any indoor spaces and can hardly even find safe medical care. No one cares some of us are forced out society unless we want to risk our lives.
I’ve bookmarked a recent similar conversation.
Him: We have to live our lives.
Me: Well, I don’t want to get Covid.
Him: I don’t want to get Covid either.
Me:😶
None of you are offering an OFF RAMP. Without it, masking inevitably becomes an In Group fetish - like some kind of cult symbol identifying The Chosen Few.
"we have to live our lives" aka "i don't want the imprisonment and torture of being forced to care about the repercussions of my behavior, its super unfair and essentially slavery"

Even if your life is shortened, or marred by continual illness?
