So, turns out, with some tinkering, I managed to figure out that the compression algorithm used to compress the HUD data is actually the same used to compress game graphics, so this might actually be easier than I thought it would be (here's hoping).

Reason why the HUD layouts are compressed is due to the fact that the game has so many. There's the HUD for just Kirby, Kirby + Helper, Kirby + Boss, Kirby + Helper + Boss, and this spans across every single subgame. Point is that is a lot of HUDs that I will have to decompress and edit manually.
