I'm so used to playing Kirby games in Japanese it's so weird playing them in English now. Weird take but, it's the equivalent of watching dubbed anime, it just doesn't feel right. Something is off. It wasn't meant to be English.

I'm bouncing a bit all over the place here but I'm working on a NiDL practice hack now. So far working on a way to have all levels unlocked so MK practice is easier and being able to re-fight bosses. GBA assembly seems easy? So I might get a good amount done.

I got the RNG numbers to display properly! It is a lot of manual work to edit every single HUD but the process is fairly straight forward. I got all of RoMK and MWW done so I will stop here for now. Good update to start the new year on :3

So, turns out, with some tinkering, I managed to figure out that the compression algorithm used to compress the HUD data is actually the same used to compress game graphics, so this might actually be easier than I thought it would be (here's hoping).

OK, so I managed to shove both RNG numbers in, but the issue is that it overflows outside the intended area, causing some of the tiles to flip and such. So there's a good chance I might have to edit every single HUD so that these tiles aren't flipped (which requires decompressing all the HUD data) 🫠

Starting to work on practice hack work again. Been wanting to implement new HUD features for a while since I wasn't a fan of the old way I did it. Think I will try using the lives counter and score for other things. Currently seeing how lives counter works with RNG (226 number is example)
