Kids, OpenAI is the sort of thing that will get you held back at school or put you in the unemployment line. The plagiarism machine will not help you get ahead. If you only take away one message from me, please take that one.

Why the fuck would they hire you if they could just directly approach the source themselves? Only extremely tight curation and postwork can add value to AI generated content. The human touch must always be what sets your work apart from the rest of the morass.
That's why I respect AI artists who push extremely hard to acquire a style of their own and not just be content entirely with the generators' choices. JUSTICE FOR PRAGG SNARBO!
That only applies if they don't make an effort to cram their own work into the dataset solely. If an artist wants to spend months shovelling their own photos and artworks into a model, I'm not going to stand in their way
This also applies when a model has a proper accounting and attribution process that pays out fairly to all artists whose works become part of another work with their prior informed consent - a few generators (sadly not enough) are beginning to add this.
Generative AI will stop being totally hated when it plays fair by the rules: proper attribution and remuneration, exclusion without prior consent, and being at least halfway as efficient as a drawing pad and a supplies.
I’d like to agree but cheating, stealing, lying & backstabbing got every Republican the gig and lots of loot.. sure they’re soulless, parasites devoid of all human compassion or creativity but they’re rich and apparently bulletproof.
Would that being nice were profitable …oh I have a dream 💭 😔
Unexpected addition to the great filter. Positive feedback loop of sentient species being being fed back an amalgamation of whatever they managed to write down. Yay?
