I'm appreciating BlueSky but it is not a direct substitute for Facebook. IMO the best feature of fb has been their groups (a function BlueSky doesn't provide.) I'm currently on a quest for other platforms/options that offer comparable or better group features accessibly & at no or minimal cost.

I'm going to keep using Facebook, because all my real-life friends are there. What I won't do is post or share anything, & I'll continue to "unlike" Facebook pages as those content-creators appear here.

We should start thinking of ways to protect BlueSky from being purchased by creeps.

I intend to do just that. I don't accept that we're all so "addicted to Facebook" that we CAN'T leave. Of course we can; what were we doing before ? We had forums/bbs/websites. Now we have newsletters, TikTok, podcasts, and we can try to meet *gasp, choke* IN REAL LIFE. Phuck the oligarchs!

A son just opted out of fb over new rules-ostensibly to ‘open up freedom of speech’ while meaning ‘anything goes’! Women can be referred to-as property or household objects. Trans & non-binary can be referred to as ‘its’ & those with mental problems-whatever! Son said ‘I have to live with myself’!

I know good people who use those apps, but I also know they won't likely leave them. Due to the fact that social media has become so ingrained in their lives, starting with FB. It's hard to convince anyone that social media is the problem.

Yes indeed. FB will now become a Non-fact checking tRump Magaot platform. The main reason I'd packed my bags and moved several weeks ago. Once he'd gone down to kiss the ring...it was full on transparency of what was coming.

A big part of people staying on FB is groups. I run a professional group with over 3K members. Simply can't leave at this point.
