Judges are supposed to recuse themselves to avoid an appearance of bias. Justice Alito spoke one-on-one with Donald Trump just before Trump asked the Court to halt his criminal sentencing. Alito did not recuse, then voted to take up the matter, which would have helped Trump. Another ethical failing.
