On iOS there's an icon at the bottom right of the image that allows you to select and copy all text before posting.
On Android there's Google Lens (and on some phones there's an icon similar to the one on iOS that allows for copying image text).
It's a good idea to encourage Bluesky to do that, I could really do with being able to edit posts - dyslexia means I frequently make daft mistakes that I don't seem to spot until after posting. I'll ask them too.
The Kinder Internet account got a comment flagged as spam for asking a prominent journalist duo to provide alt text on images that are just text and providing info on how to do so...
So now unfortunately they mainly just go to making reposts of it with alt text then adding the accounts to the list.

Unfortunately if "do it because it's the right thing to do" isn't enough to sway them then maybe falling engagement eventually will... Either way, I don't want to see posts without it.

It’s very useful to avoid a simple mistake.
I’m fed up with it and so many of them make excuses or get angry when asked to do it this is where I’ve ended up.
A disappointing number of people with bios full of ‘no hate’ ‘inclusive’ platitudes ended up there…
