An earthquake reveals a cliff side full of holes which each fit one person perfectly. People feel drawn to the holes and enter them.

Basically, there is a cliff, with human-shaped holes in them. *Precise* human-shaped holes, each of which fits a one person *exactly*. Upon seeing them (thanks to news coverage) people are drawn to the cliff, eventually going into the holes from which there is no escape, drawing them inwards...
