fascinated by this because whatever mechanical thing makes this possible has been in place for ~14 years. is deathcam in all souls games? was it in demon's souls?

I could be mistaken, but I believe it's in all but DS2. Sort of. It's in DS2, but when it's there, it's always directly attached to a kill plane so you're not going to survive it (I think).

The rest of the games allow for gaps between death cam planes & kill planes, so it's sometimes possible to trigger only the death cam.

The death cam areas *should* always be unsurvivable points of no return, but occasionally they make mistakes and get a bit sloppy with it.

additionally (and less interestingly), any glitch that prevents you from dying will also let you enter a perma-deathcam state.

Here in Nightreign, you can teleport around the HUB without triggering a full reload of the area. It's an "instant" teleport.

So Regole jumped off the cliff, and teleported away after hitting the death cam but not yet hitting the kill plane, which is very funny and a newfound way of causing it.

That being said, I don't know of any places in Demon's Souls where it's possible without cheating off the top of my head, but it probably exists.

I'm not entirely sure to be completely honest. From my own testing, the moment that a player falls into a camera plane they're marked for death the instant they next touch solid ground.

@bertoplease.bsky.social might know something? But honestly I haven't found anything.
