I think that’s a large part of it. It’s really unbelievable to consider we don’t have a national agency overseeing all of this data. I was trying to find archived data of avalanche paths or their statistics and couldn’t find *anything* online from various centers, ski resorts, etc. So frustrating

They've got some API documentation up on GitHub. I believe that's what we use to grab them.
