A lot of these bills are performative so it can go on record that Republicans voted no on a popular bill, but aren’t there bigger fish to fry right now?
Everyone in the house and senate is funded by credit card companies, you can expect their lip service to be worth exactly nothing when this comes up to a vote.
She should consult with an economist on this one. If you have less than stellar credit, it will be illegal for banks to give you an uncollateralized loan.
Gosh what a lovely idea that will never pass in the house or senate. So is she doing anything about the fact the president doesn't plan on their being free elections in the U.S. ever again?
Idiotic. Particularly now as we head to recession. Nobody would underwrite credit card risk today for a maximum 10% interest rate. Who do you expect to backstop all the losses?
WEAK!
These people should be out raising militia, not providing performative cover with their utterly pointless gesture politics.
But, sadly, their job was ALWAYS to provide the illusion of opposition.
They should be helping low income people with credit card debt. A government backed credit card at prime rate for those earning less than $50k/yr. No frills, points, or marketing.
When I make it to US Congress, I'll push to shorten term limits, limit the Executive Branch, and create a non-partisan anti-cronyism watchdog agency that oversees lobbying activities and illegal inducements.
For what it’s worth, that would never pass and I don’t think she should focus on that right now. She is making such end roads in just coalescing people together against the breakdown of democracy. Just keep being our voice AOC. NY will understand.
We need to be calling our R reps and demanding they support this bill, or explain to us in great detail why they will not back a bill helping millions of Americans more easily handle crippling credit card debt.
I call my reps every weekday. I will add to my list of things I mention along with saving our national forests and parks, VA services, remove and deport musk and save public education. My list is getting longer every day.
Democrats, keep putting out bills that are designed to fight oligarchy.
-End Citizens United
-End Trump meme coins
-End presidents being able to monetize their position
-End presidential cabinet members getting rich off the position
-Essentially everything Chris Murphy said then the day.
Bernie and every other Democrats need to amplify the Anti-Oligarchy message.
They also need to figure out the counter message and how to unravel the narratives that we should just give over our power to the oligarchs because "they sm0rt."
I wish someone would introduce a bill to put a cap on rent. For example, in apartments, cap it based on square footage, amenities offered (in-unit washer/dryer or not, etc.), age of appliances, and so forth.
In the present environment, I don't see the point of something like this.
But:
How about a bill to stop Doge.
How about a bill to protect Medicare, Medicaid, Soc.Sec..
How about a bill to lower prescription drug costs.
How about a bill to protect women's productive health.
How about a bill to ...
My options sounds like we're fighting against Republican nastiness and fascism and those issues are on the minds of every American. It makes a statement.
So are exorbitant credit card fees. People understand getting ripped off by banks better than they understand fascism. This makes a statement that speaks to all.

Fox will help them get there.
And she really could be doing something more productive with her time.
(Twofer- killing it)

Agree to disagree.
