When I was a kid l, I used to follow the Voyager in my Highlights Magazine. I was absolutely obsessed with learning everything I could about the universe.
They certainly were. I was on a programming contract at JPL, supporting the Deep Space Network, when Voyager 2 encountered Saturn. We watched pictures coming in on TVs in the cafeteria, while one of the team told us what the next picture would be.
It was definitely different. One of my projects was to redo the numeric data displays so a tech could tell at a glance from across the room that something needed attention by COLOR CODING out of range values.
As a child I was fascinated by the article on the Voyager flybys in National Geographic which showed her with the first image of the volcano. Thanks for sharing!
