NY election dates are already intentionally staggered so as not to be in presidential election years to dilute urban voting.

Maine has rather good voting laws overall. Same day voter registration, automatic voter registration, 16 year olds can register and then vote as soon as there's a primary in the year they turn 18, online voter registration, no felon disenfranchisement. There are tweaks to be done but mostly strong.

Yes, but Maine also “benefits” from lacking the anxiety of minorities voting, thanks to a history of racist laws...

These are parallel reasons that Maine and Oregon have laws so friendly to voting, no?

Voting against someone is a powerful inducement. My late mother, who never voted a day in her life, was finally motivated to come with me to the voting booth for a primary to oppose a candidate she absolutely despised.

The irony of this was that the primary was on September 11, 2001...

UPDATE: I called 1-866-VOTE-NYC because the deadlines are confusing - and the person said that if you change your registration via https://e-register.vote.nyc/, you have until the end of day tomorrow, 2/14. BUT DO IT TODAY!

...if you register via the NYC DMV tool ( https://voterreg.dmv.ny.gov/motorvoter/ ) you have to do it TODAY, 2/13, in order for it to be accepted by tomorrow's deadline. So I recommend using the https://e-register.vote.nyc link and doing it NOW, just to be safe!

This page shows you all the ways you can register or change your party affiliation so you can vote in the June primary against Adams. As I understand it, the FIRST link is the best one to use. Deadline 2/14! If you use the DMV link instead, you have to do it TODAY, 2/13.
