When I go down there I never use the shared path, preferring to ride on the road, which feels less risky to me.

But it's got unlawfully placed 30 mph repeaters to try and excuse the high speed design so naturally no driver will ever exceed that limit whilst you try and squeeze alongside it.

The road has been widened to three lanes so cars are already driving noticeably faster at this point, just where the path narrows and curves by a blind bend. High risk of cyclists colliding/falling into the road.

It's going to be "conflict" as soon as you have multiple people going in different directions, not just at busy times. It needs to be wider than 3m to account for the high usage, and the need to ride/walk away from the edge as there is no longer a verge giving a "buffer zone" from the road.

And, of course, the four lanes for motorists are much more important! Traffic engineers are obsessed with speed and capacity of motor traffic and pay scant regard to safety of any other users.
