As long as you're respectful and have something interesting or relevant to add, that reaction is bizarre. What's the point of social media if one doesn't want to be... Social? But everyone has different boundaries. Perhaps some are immediately defensive due to coming over from Tw*tter 🤷

My pet peeve is when people get outraged if they give an opinion and if someone has even the slightest disagreement or suggests nuance. Those are the ones I just insta-block. Obviously plenty of things have no room for disagreement, like trans rights are human rights, but you get the idea

Tone, intent, & context are important here. Debating or discussing is fine, but a lot of times people (almost always dudes, btw) will come into a thread and state their opinion as if it's a fact. And when you barge into someone else's feed w that energy, I find that incredibly rude.

It’s why I try to just straight up say why I was asking or thinking because I don’t want people to misunderstand me, tho I worry it makes me sound…stiff? Esp when in reality I’m super fluffy, friendly, and curious!
