Our govenment imposes production quotas on eggs, poultry, and dairy to artificially increase prices. It's a wealth transfer from the urban poor (cheapest sources of animal protein) to rural ridings, and somehow our eggs are still cheaper?
yep, american suppliers know that if they all increase prices consumers won’t have cheaper options available and will blame the government/inflation rather than private corruption. Of course it’s the government’s responsibility to crack down on this which it has failed for decades.
At our local supermarket, only the store brand, factory farm-produced, antibiotic-laced eggs are available. They aren't *quite* as expensive ($5.99/doz), but the shells are so thin that 2/3 crack open during hard-boiling.
