oh. well, I guess you could stick them in as a one time thing years from now; that doesn’t have the political effect in the short term but it’s cheaper
I now feel like I’m so unmoored from reality trying to figure out what makes things politically popular, or what matters at a policy level, where political gravity seems to have been turned off; that I have no idea what’s ‘possible’ anymore.
Now I feel “confounded”. But I don’t really believe what I wrote above is true.
I think government policy matters (ie impacts reality), I think politics “matters” (ie some form of US democracy) and I think voters care (I’m just not 100% sure about what).
right, this whole thing was something musk and trump were idly chattering about at some point down the road, after all of their cuts have proven the savings, unless they’re rapidly shifting tactics, this isn’t and has never been part of current negotiations
and it’s a tried and true musk strategy - promise the glorious future of FSD, er, colonies on mars, er, flying cars, er, doge checks are just over the horizon

As long as nothing matters. Why not YOLO it and makes yourself popular.
Throw in some Fed cuts too.
