I'm pretty sure Steam advertised the game to me before I bought it (a few days after launch day, I think), but I had it wishlisted, so IDK how much of a data point!
it's definitely wasn't "buried" but I think at the time I saw it falling in and out of New & Trending and I think it was - when people bought it (in some volume), it charted; when people were asleep, it disappeared. Normally the launch boost sustains through that. The difference is, sadly, huge
i thought people were just too broke to buy games that aren't blue prince, so it's kinda vindicating to know, nope, the algorithm just fucked us. (And the only clue was on a page no one ever looks at, so I wonder -- is this rare?!)
they've confirmed - it was a bug their end, and they're looking into it. I'm obviously cross - but to give them credit, they did pick up the support ticket very quickly just now.
