Im just annoyed because so many of the same people demanding that Obama/Kamala "do something" were the same folks who accused them of fear mongering by telling people exactly that would happen if Trump won.

Also Barack and Michelle gave nothing but great and inspirational speeches and public appearances in the months leading up to the election, and it didn’t do a goddamn thing.
I mean, I'd like to see Obama and Kamala get out there and say things, but I'd also like to see it from the Clintons, and W. Bush, and Romney, and basically anybody who has had any office of value in memory.
And I'd like to see Schumer at least try to do something forceful.
To your point, people who are out there saying Obama/Kamala should do something, but aren't out there also pressuring other (white) people to take action... miss me with that, y'know?
I can’t speak for everyone, but my mind first goes to Obama because he is a community organizer. His “boots on the ground” experience is why I supported him and is exactly what we need now. I don’t know how to organize. That’s the help I need right now. We need someone (anyone) like him to teach us!
He is working with young people to teach them how to organize. He can’t be a “boots on the ground“ organizer with a huge security detail and a sizable number of people who want him dead. If we want to know what he thinks, we can replay any of his speeches from last summer and fall.
And further to the point of community organizing being impossible due to death threats and security concerns, Al Sharpton and his allies risked death every day and had their own security detail. They never once let fear control them.
If you can’t see what a huge and unique target Obama would be, I don’t know what to tell you. He risked his life daily just by being President. If he had been fearful, he would not have run for the job.
I disagree that Obama cannot be a more active community organizer due to his security detail. Jimmy Carter built homes for poor people until he literally couldn’t. Where is Obama teaching young people how to organize? Not sure if I’m considered young anymore, but I’d love to sign up so I can learn.
Go look at the things that the Obama Foundation is doing with young people. And you can’t possibly think that Carter would have been in the same kind of danger that Obama would be in out in the streets. He gets death threats every day.
No. What needs to be happening is that we need to see the republicans -- who have the majority right now -- being demanded to speak up and push back. This is not the job for Obama, Hillary, Bill nor Kamala.
I got blocked for saying that no single leader is going to save us that essentially it has to be the people in mass fighting back.
They responded by citing Winston Churchill and FDR as examples of leaders who "swooped in" and saved the people. A massive false equivalency to our current events.
Also: Were Churchill & FDR surrounded by sick, insane enablers? Did the press contrive to minimize their importance? Did people refuse to listen to words of wisdom because of the color of their skin, their gender? Did they have the confidence of the people? Were they bombarded with false propaganda?
I’m just annoyed because so many of the same people who say “enjoy Trump!” are the same ones who stuck their fingers in their ears and went “la la la I can’t hear you” when people spoke up against Joe Biden facilitating a genocide in Gaza.
People, specifically white people, and women, specifically white and latina, didnt like Kamala because of her smile / laugh. To say nothing of straight racism.
Obama spoke a truth and got dragged for it.
They told everyone. Some of us listened. A lot didnt.
Same type of people actively campaigned against Clinton in 2016 and ridiculed pragmatic Clinton voters, then begged her to do something when Trump issued his Muslim ban, etc. Same type of people actively discouraged people from voting for Harris are now asking where's Kamala?! Make it make sense.
no they aren't. i voted obama/clinton/biden/harris, but when you lose to a wannabe dictator, you have to not wait for the next election. the person out there in front of people is bernie. and i love me some bernie, but he needs more people. biden did a lot of good, but no one knew about it. he lost.
The problem with Bernie is that he and AOC aren't actually *doing* anything. They're just doing rallies and speeches like it's an election year or something. Talking isn't going to get us out of this. It just makes people feel like they're doing something when they aren't.
they need to do more, I agree, but I'm not sure what you want them to do, exactly, unless it's to start putting up the barricades. it seems to me like the first thing is to start turning people out, like trump did, and then people start feeling like they're not alone. and then we hit the streets.
Everyone's still acting like we can fix this with voting. As if we're still going to have free and uncompromised elections instead of fake ones like they have in Russia.
A show of numbers is meaningless unless it's backed with concrete action.
i’m not clear on what you are suggesting. my own thinking has been general strike. enough people in the streets for long enough seems to be working in serbia. in any case im suggesting the opposite if waiting for a chance to vote so there we are in the same page
Block all those accounts - deeply unserious people who want to blame Black people for their problems. They feel that we are here to always be their scapegoats and their saviors. This entitlement we need to cut off - no engagement; immediate blocking. I shared one that I will then block.
Black folks are stepping back as a whole, it seems. We're tired of screaming and never being heard. We need to rest before we collapse. We'll be here when people finally, truly, understand WHAT we've been screaming.
We really have. Like, let us rest. We're exhausted! We'll be back, but like fuck if we're doing the bulk of the work anymore. We need people to work with us. Properly with us.
I'm not one of either group, but I still wonder why we aren't hearing more from them. Maybe Kamala's like, EFF YOU, USA; understandable. But also, for the first time in my life, me and the rest of the grandmas are doing this: https://handsoff2025.com/
I will never understand how “we need to stop the fascists from taking over” wasn’t a compelling enough message for enough voters during the actual campaign 🙃
I do hope she's planning the comeback of the century. This was not a fair election with voter suppression, lost registrations, provisional ballots not counted, bomb threats & more. See https://gregpalast.com & Jessica Denson
Yes & look who blocked me BC I told her the same thing. A badge of effing Honor.
This must be Blame Obama (Blk people) day & not those that are inflicting the pain or put all of us in the position to feel it. Norm in America. Don’t tell 💭⚪️ america to take responsibility for their 77 mil votes.
They told me I was fear mongering as well. Saying my developmentally delayed children would lose services. Any interaction I've had with MAGAts goes about as well as Parker's interactions with The Outfit and Syndicate. It doesn't end nicely.
Well, they told us what was going to happen. I'm not sure what else they should be doing, especially because 47 would probably try to have them jailed. People aren't living in reality.
They told us what would happen and people's actions basically said we don't care. And now that everything is going to shit suddenly they want them to come back on their orders.
As the General Avon Barksdale asked his supposed “ally” & we forewarned...
“What I tell you about playin' them f'kn away games?” You got a beef wit’ them? “That ish is on you 🫵🏾”
F those ppl. Obama/Kamala etc. are private citizens that served the public for years & are not obligated to helping white ppl avoid confronting & fixing their own ugliness of character in their own families & communities.
They don’t owe the USA ish. They can watch this ish burn guilt f’n free.
Black people told you exactly what would happen, not voting for Kamala Harris would make it worse. But y'all didn't want us to vote for Kamala when we knew that would also be harm reduction for non white ppl. And as usual black people were 100% right. And that's what really pisses you people off.

it doesn’t even take anything away from FDR’s presidenc[ies] to acknowledge the reality that he was no Deus ex machina.
Obama spoke a truth and got dragged for it.

Consequences and repercussions!
I am all for people speaking up , but we need to see more than just that

As if they could.

I don't think having some of the most disputed figures (even if unfairly so) is going to do that, but ehat do I know.
They told us all he was 'weird'.
They didn't say jack shit about putting him in prison for life.
So, yeah.
Let's all keep pretending they did a good job.

and many of them are from the Berniebro troll farms
