Delaying trials for January 6 defendants even before the new administration is sworn in provides a harmful normalizing effect if and when Trump’s DOJ ultimately dismisses these cases and pardons defendants. Judges should resist putting efficiency of their own dockets above the rule of law.

One of the important principles of resisting authoritarianism is that one should not prospectively comply with the wishes of authoritarian leaders.
So this is bad.

We know how that worked out
No other person in America would have been released on bail after stealing hundreds of highly classified documents, multiple cases of contempt of court, inciting a violent insurrection, etc...
Trump broke the constitution and the rule of law in this country.
On Tyranny
Lesson One
Do Not Obey In Advance !!!
Shouldn’t the DOJ have operated with a greater sense of urgency — given the situation?
The judicial branch must remain independent of the legislative and executive branches (the political branches), hence the judiciary should makes decisions without regard to politics.
This judge appeared to let politics dictate his decision.
They are afraid of having to rule against Trump or even have it on their desk.
They are acquiescent even before they have to be. I can't say I blame them.
Do we have any system of justice and accountability left? How do we enforce any laws at any level? I am asking this seriously.
