And replaced them all with single payer universal healthcare! One system for all, paid for thru taxes.
Like the rest of the developed world.
This lowers all costs.
(In my state, you can also see an OBGYN without a referral.)
*finding* a decent primary care doctor who takes Medicaid + new patients can also be hard
So I'm pretty familiar with the systems for finding doctors who participate with Medicaid, Medicare, and employer based health insurance
A) go to the insurance website
B) look for the "provider directory"
C) select your search criteria, and pick someone from the list
These directories are often *seriously* out of date, and using them makes it feel like there are no specialists at all
- people who were not OBGYNs, even though I used that filter
- people who no longer accepted Medicaid
- people who moved to an entirely different part of the state
- people who retired
Especially if you're in a rural area
This is mostly because Medicaid payments are very low
in Massachusetts it's called Masshealth.
in Connecticut it's called Husky C (there are four different Husky plans named A, B, C and D, and providers that accept one of them don't always accept every type)
