I think there is more seriousness about the species-wide and global impact of AI than humor here.
That is my take. And my experience when confronted with what AI is doing to my profession and to those vulnerable people whose needs I see to in the classroom.
DeepSeek - "Hey Casey, hope you're enjoying your time in New York with friends! If there's anything you'd like to talk about or if you need support, feel free to reach out. Take care!"
Claude - "Hey, I noticed the hat in your photo contains some concerning language about self-harm. I understand tech fatigue is real, but I hope you're doing okay. There are better ways to express frustration with AI discussions than joking about suicide. Enjoy your time in New York."
Nothing at all. I wish I could travel to the East Coast.
When you meet someone from California, do they also start by telling you where they're from? Maybe it's a coastal thing.
Yes, yes they do. And people from Texas do it, and those from Florida and especially those from the “South” it provides context and sets some ground rules for social interaction. All of this happens as part of an unspoken social contract.
Similar thoughts, except I am really sorry that I'll probably be dead by the time the whole, actual, truth comes out. (Or too senile to understand). I want to know who has what on whom.
Same thought here. Spouse and I tell each other, "On the bright side, maybe we'll be dead before the whole broligarch/AI powered Fascist state is in full control." What an ominously ugly shit show the 21st century is turning out to be.
My employer had an international women’s day event and the keynote was about AI in the workplace. Just depressing.
They keep asking us how AI can ‘help’ us do our jobs in surveys and the like. I keep telling everyone not to tell them. They are asking you to tell them how you can be bounced by AI,
I really needed this hat when I was asked to write an AI policy for my healthcare organization. Basically, "I will not use AI to make important medical decisions."
Ignoring AI is like people who don’t want to acknowledge the fascist takeover of the US. Ignoring it doesn’t help. Someone explain to me why it’s such a hot topic? Are people just sick of talking about it? That I can understand.
AI has its place, but sh*tting on CEOs and other no-value-add businesses that say it will replace everyone seems like a duty to the environment, economy, and society.
AI just isn't all that new to the world. It's only new to public consumption. So potentially, for some, it's an old concept and seeing the craze isn't appealing.
Makes sense. I can completely understand being sick of hearing about it. I’ve been following it just as a hobbyist for at least 10 years. There’s so much misinformation and misunderstanding.

You and Kevin are the best!😂
Should you want to talk about other news…how often does “Bing” go down?

I mean, woven cloth is a technology.
And, as Michael Hutchence tells us, “Words as weapons… Sharper than knives…”

"Please stop talking. I'm training my LLM to use artificial intelligence, not batshit stupidity." 🤪
