I think a big issue here is most people don't want/feel the need to understand any of the real infrastructure that makes their way of life possible. Most people don't think about where their drains go or how water gets to the taps. They don't care to know so they have weird unrealistic expectations.
If I’m convinced of anything it’s that we love to insulate homeowners in the United States from due diligence and expect that we should change the world around them to fit their demands.

I run into this often and it drives me insane.
