Two boys found their father’s unsecured gun & they were playing with it. Their mother called 911. The deputies had a showdown with these boys to disarm them. They fired a non-lethal round against the structure near the boys & deployed a tazer. They yelled to the boys to “put the fucking gun down”.

The cops only did one thing right here. After warning the kids, there wasn’t much else for them to do. A gun in the hands of anyone is a dangerous thing. BUT…not charging the parents? Charging the little kid with aggravated assault? He’s an idiot yes. I’d say that’s breeding but who am I to judge!

Be careful what you read. The story in the post is false. No child was charged, and criminal charges are pending. New Mexico has a secure gun storage law: the Bennie Hargrove Gun Act. The Act requires parents to store guns out of reach of children.

Local news has not reported any charges against the child or the parents. I'm sure possession of a firearm by a minor means paperwork of some sort, but the child has not been reported as being in a detention facility, foster care, etc. I don't know what the New Mexico Bennie Act requires.

The father should be charged and be banned from possessing firearms of any kind. Rights=responsibility. If gun owners can’t be responsible they lose the right to have guns. And this father is not a responsible gun owner. The mother sucks too.

I saw this last night. It was horrific for a number of reasons, including the fact that they were returned to their Mother. Watching a child point a loaded gun at a police officer was beyond description. If there is no intervention, these little boys will grow up to do who knows what.
