Trump has taken sides for us. The simplicity is not in the mind of the 'unserious' observer, but forced on us by what Trump has done and said. He no longer represents the 'side' Starmer has in mind as our ally.

Too slow to avoid minimising the economic damage in each case, but maybe the “don’t spook the horses” attitude to voters is the most politically effective strategy 🤷♂️
He needs to buy EU time, all the political will to rearm won’t mean much if the rug gets pulled tomorrow and the Ukrainians run out of ammo by spring.

Even if Starmer is fully convinced that the US under Trump is an unreliable ally or worse, he probably doesn't think it's the time to say that.
