My video game history site predates Bluesky, and since a lot of gamer types follow me, it occurred to me that I should promote my pre-Bluesky content. First off... did you ever wonder where Blanka from Street Fighter gets his name? I found out! https://www.thrillingtalesofoldvideogames.com/blog/blanka-name-origin-street-fighter-ii

This.
In Slam Masters 2, there's a Dominican fighter called "Rasta Mon" and his stage is a jungle with monkeys.
There are no Rastas, monkeys or jungles in the Dominican Republic.
I have developed this ridiculous theory that Captain Commando and Ken Masters / Kevin Straker from Street Fighter 2010 have got to be related somehow, maybe father/son.
Keep in mind Captain Commando takes place in Metro City 16 years after SF2010!
1) The SF and Final Fight universes are connected (and Captain Commando takes place in future Metro City)
2) Ken/Kevin is a cyborg with spiky blond hair in 2010. Ken also has a younger son (Mel) in the SF3 games who would be an adult by 2026.
3) The official story for Captain Commando is he's the son of a doctor killed by Scumocide. But maybe he was brought back to life as a cyborg and adopted Astro Boy-style. The bio's pretty vague
4) There's even a fun connection in the Udon comics where Mel is playing SF2010. Foreshadowing!
But that's the boring answer!
But Capcom has long twisted its fighting/beat 'em up games back together with retcons and crossovers, so you never know - this could be the revised canon one day!)
