The studies I know have been inconclusive. One of the more solid results is that swapping out algorithms, yes, reduces time spent but also news knowledge...

It does really feel like AI is needed to help fight back against toxic algorithms and bots. I've wondered who can be trusted to provide a model when money corrupts startups so quickly? Or a framework to restrict user-centric agents would be pushed by big tech? This feels like the only way out though

I no longer trust that my digital financial and medical data is sufficiently protected by any entity, especially here in the US where privacy laws seem barely enforced. A good part of me wants to throw up my hands and demand it all go back to paper, but that horse left the barn years ago.

A personal AI would be great, one that would keep track of my day-to-day, one that was not controlled by some third party who wants to push products on me and sell me crap. I doubt there's anything like that in the pipeline. The direction of today's "innovation" is always greater enshittification.

So far everything touched by AI has been enshittified. Make sure to have a plan in place to roll it back when it turns out to be a giant piece of crap. Nice touch with the "break down walled gardens" thing and the paywall.
