This year ITV turns 70. I miss the ITV I grew up with: a network of local TV stations with their own identities. So, from Anglia to Thames, here’s my tribute to regional ITV and its jingles.

Yes indeed. For me, that switchover was the official start of the weekend. I often watched the 'Six O'Clock Show' with Michael Aspel and Danny Baker on LWT on Friday evening.
How you managed to do the HTV theme is beyond me. Despite being atv central, it's always the idents that reminds me:

100% on Border I loved that show, iirc the boarder isn't sounded a little 'country dancing'
Re: How - Jack Hargreaves was a great broadcaster and had a huge role at southern TV.
For some reason, the Yorkshire Television fanfare used to terrify me as a kid. Not sure why. But a few years back I turned those five notes into a full piece of music.
I know it was Granadaland, and yest they did a lot of shows, one of the major companies, and things like World in Action and University Challenge (which I think they still make in their current guise). Just don't remember a jingle. And was the north facing arrow on Up North News a nod to it?

Unfortunately commercial TV is becoming increasingly difficult to watch due to very poor quality advertising.
