Ty, a 13-year-old with autism and an intellectual disability, put a bunny in his backpack to show his friends.
Scared his toy would be confiscated, he told his teacher the school would “blow up” if anyone looked inside his bag.
He was arrested and charged with a felony — @propublica.org

The services are already not enough for the true needs.
Sigh.
I hate that this child will forever be traumatized bc legislators & “educators” are dumb & lack empathy/compassion/understanding!
So, instead of banning or restricting guns, lawmakers would rather enact laws to criminalize children?!
This country is so ass backwards👎🏿🙄
And there's rapist felon in the w.h.!
I bet he better still be able to run for presidency when he's ready
What happened to this child was egregious.
“They brought Ty to the counselor’s office and found Bonnie in the backpack. As Ty stood there, he said, confused about what he had done wrong…”
So confusing
So throw the book and say you did what you could
The school failed.
Legislate bullshit, get a rodeo.
Compounding scenarios like these, if a teacher DOESN'T report it in some districts, they face the very real risk of being fired for not following protocol. Districts need to have processes in place to investigate b4 reporting to the authorities. State legislatures can help or hinder, depending.
Welp…here’s hoping he made his family rich via lawsuit.
