Well, definitely — mine is intended for heavy duty and very high use, and is treated 4x4 lumber from the continent I live on. 😂🤣
IKEA is mostly pressboard. They rarely use wood anymore: most of it is glued together pressboard & wood pulp (I learned this while researching cabinets six months back).
But who would’ve guessed that bench-grinding steel sheets would make it *so* fucking sharp?! I mean… axes are one thing, but a massive upright mandoline with 1/8” thick steel is… WHEW.
It’s washable, tho! Removable and scrubbable — thank goodness.
I just haven’t decided on which weights to put at the top of the blade to increase downward force… I’m thinking a capped frame (located at the top of the blade frame) that houses the weights would be ideal, really. Gotta centralize that shit!
