Nobody can get in their heads, but they didn't look enthusiastic. A couple months is lots of time to work on coordinated marching skills.

Bastille Day (which isn't what the French call it) is also not just about a military parade. It's the French national holiday (le Quatorze Juillet ou la Fête nationale). As you say, it's about history and tradition and national pride.
