Many don't want to hear this, but pushing AI hard in your schools or on students, you risk:

-deskilling your & your colleague's jobs
-putting future teachers out of theirs
-depersonalizing & dehumanizing ed
-endangering the planet students will inherit
-further empowering authoritarian tech bros

I'm begging educators not to just accept when a salesperson or superior says "we're going to consider/balance AI's risks and rewards" but to tally up the risks and ask yourself what rewards for your particular students in your particular classroom could possibly approach that.

I’m not using it at all. I refuse. At its root, it’s a machine built on plagiarism that the kids use to cheat.
Our district is pushing it on us hard though.

In Philly, they are training teachers in using AI and "possible risks," which of course is BS. Risk assessment comes before training. At least here it is a pilot--though my experience in education suggests pilot = a done deal's marketing effort.

Perhaps school districts and universities shouldn't model their behavior after the current administration's:

"The new presidential administration’s first official actions related to artificial intelligence signaled a clear stance – rapid expansion with minimal oversight."
