He’s been given a bum deal but he’s had a good look at these players now and taken zero risk with bringing in talent from the your set up which for me is an easy win for him. There’s so little expectation at the minute he would be daft not to get some of them in first team training to integrate them

I think the worst possible time to introduce young players is when the team is losing consistently. The pressure on them to ‘save us’ could be damaging. The right time to blood young players is alongside a group of high-performing experienced heads, that are playing well and winning.

I can understand that school of thought but I’m finding it hard to believe Amass for instance would be any worse than Dalot at lwb. He should at least be assessing his options. It’s always been the way the club has operated and if things don’t change we will be in a relegation battle very soon

I’m sure Amass would perform at least as well as Dalot. But being part of a losing team might be demoralising for young players. Until the team starts winning, there’s more to lose by throwing young players into the mix. The experienced players need to start earning their wages.

I have a theory that Ashworth is gone because he pushed to stick with Ruud for now, and that was the final straw for INEOS after him suggesting giving ten Hag a final bite of the Apple after winning the FA Cup

When he was approached Ruben asked for a deal to be put in place for the summer and he was told it was now or never.

We easily could have gone with a contract for him to take over in the summer

But thinking would’ve got confused if Ruud had done well in the meantime. There would have naturally been pressure from the fans to keep Ruud, and Ruben would’ve ended up somewhere else. It was right to act quickly and decisively.

Amorim sticks doggedly to 343, hasn't the squad for it, and has only 2½yr contract, which isn't long to rebuild. Some players bought in summer will need to be sold quickly. And what happens if part way through the rebuild he gets sacked? Another rebuild. INEOS are clowns, utter clowns.

That is what would have happened at a sensible club. United seem to manage to wrangle a crisis out of every decision they make. Now we have a bunch of lazy players who aren't good enough or intelligent enough to play the system the manager wants.

Devils advocate here but would that not be just delaying it again? Ruud, with his own formation, players excel, then they dip again when Amorim comes in and were back to square one.

Amorim would have had a whole summer to coach them in the new system, play friendlies in that system and could sign players that suit it. These things are not the same.

I thought similar but worried about how badly the Rangnick interim experiment went. Interim managers give players a scapegoat for their own bad performances. There would have been no accountability.

Agree. An interim would’ve been a disaster and only delay the pain. The squad can no longer hide, they’re being exposed as mediocre to average.We will beat relegation & the players who need to leave will be clear. Rashford is already half way out the door. This is the heart surgery needed.

Totally agree. I just hope we look back at this period and are able to say it was worth the pain. Maybe Berrada knew this, Amorim certainly does, and they are willing to make a painful change to get where we want to be sooner.
