Another reminder that not all AI is LLMs, and also this conflation is one of the risks of saying “AI” these days vs talking about types of machine learning.

So what I'm saying is, there are lots of cases in which very specific AIs designed to solve a specific problem are incredibly valuable. But by eliding them with the LLMs the public are familiar with, govt undermines them.

Pre-ChatGPT artificial intelligence is a valid research field, and specialized LLMs have real value.
