The exact same goes for every politician and columnist who's enabled and legitimised this kind of politics. The trajectory past the cordon sanitaire (to the extent it existed) was always obvious.

I'm not having Fraser Nelson playing dumb on the rise of racism on the right after years spent printing Murray, Liddle, Taki and Shriver. I literally had a DM row with him years ago where I said this would happen.

I've had someone (a clinician) remind me that they have to spend hours every week booking appointments in three different systems, then separately sending texts/emails out to patients to confirm those appts. If you want to eliminate waste, you're best starting with wasted clinician time.

Something is shifting. They are still breaking things and stealing things. And they will keep trying to break and to steal. But the propaganda magic around the oligarchical coup is fading. (1/2)

BBC News on hour reporting straight that Trump has got rid of military chiefs because ‘they’re too mired in woke culture’ 🤯🤯🤯 Traditional liberal democratic media still hasn’t learned how to report on authoritarians, even now when it’s almost too late

I know that firing public sector workers is popular if you label them "bureaucrats", but who exactly is Sarwar talking about? Everyone I know in the NHS has told me at least one way in which the chipping away of managerial and support staff has led to that workload falling on frontline workers.

'The leopard just ate your face' Right-wingers who flirt with Trump should take note of how JD Vance just humiliated MAGA's pet Scottish historian Niall Ferguson for daring to question the cult's betrayal of Ukraine My @heraldscotland.bsky.social column www.heraldscotland.com/politics/vie...

I've written about this from a ScotLab political strategy POV today. But speaking as (an admittedly, today, very middle-class) someone who grew up in a working class community in Glasgow, I don't recognise McSweeney's faux-class politicking as something I, my friends, or my family would vote for.

Once again, the challenge for those of us who see our NATO Allies and Ukraine as crucial to our own security is to carry the British public with us - not to assume they agree with us.

If Scottish Labour's fortunes don't turn around, you're all going to get sick of me spamming my column from the week before the 2024 election... www.heraldscotland.com/politics/vie...

By-Election Result analysis: Kilmarnock North Labour prove unable to capitalise on a still weak SNP, as they continue to be unable to pick up transfers necessary to overturn what should be manageable SNP first preference leads.

Still trying to figure out why Anas Sarwar approvingly referenced the extralegal project of a neo-Nazi in his speech to ScotLab conference today...

Look, when the parliamentary leader of the Rassemblement national refuses to appear at CPAC thanks to Bannon giving a "provocative gesture that resembled the controversial salute Elon Musk gave at a post-inauguration rally last month", you should just acknowledge that these guys are fucking Nazis!

Where does Blue Labour leave ScotLab and Anas Sarwar, amid plummeting approvals & a fragmenting voter coalition? If they are to rebuild their voter coalition by next May, they need to answer the questions of what, and who, Scottish Labour are for. ✍🏻 My latest for @heraldscotland.bsky.social

Just looking at the latest YouGov poll - the Tories are on 9% with people under 50. It is not clear to me how this helps with that problem.

Quite apart from anything else, the more we can make Bannon the face of American New Authoritarianism, the better - he's the definition of mask-off.

They are deliberately crossing the red lines, in order to make the unacceptable commonplace and, eventually, acceptable again.

Ladies and gentlemen, the French far-right, which specializes in knowing *exactly* what Nazis are. Imagine being too Nazi for the National Rally

"[o]ur own Department of Government Efficiency" [have a good original idea challenge] and reference to the cost of building "a prison for murderers and rapists" [check out the maintenance, damages and human cost of not improving the prison estate]. Grim stuff.
