Of course they are, they're an American tech company and so therefore must be great... at least if you're in Starmerworld, which knows so little about tech all they need is a flashy powerpoint at a Californian accent and they have the contract.

To be fair, most governments are on a lot of technical areas. But good governments know where to get good advice, and that's Labour's problem across the board.
Question for me is whether or not this is table stakes for modern politicians. Certainly it feels like the other team are better at this stuff. Where are our equivalents to AOC who intuit this stuff in combination with the other skills needed in the political arena?
A lot of it comes down to two myths: "private sector is efficient" (only holdable if you have never worked in a large business); and "nothing good comes out of state-run projects" (only holdable if you know nothing about history). Starmer swallowed both.
The private sector thing is the one I find hardest to stomach. You only needed to have picked up a single copy of Private Eye once in the past 30 years to be disabused of that fallacy.
