A lot of folks playing InZOI. I’m curious to know how many of them know it uses gen AI, both in the development of the game & in the game itself. We gotta be more vigilant about this stuff because a lot of the people I’ve seen at least say they’re anti-AI. The devs don’t even hide their use of AI. - ThreadSky

Also trying to hide how much it is using gen "AI" by calling it sLM I think makes me far less likely to trust them (not that I really trust them given how much I've heard of them heavily using "AI" for the game)

Yeah, I looked up some screenshots for this game because I didn't know what it was, and could tell right away that it was an AI-heavy game. The character models have that really wrong, lifeless, plastic look to them that only AI can pull off.

My interest didn't last beyond those screenshots.

Uncanny valley is a thing with realistic graphics quite frequently. For example, that's what scared off some people from playing The Sims 3.
That's not something only AI can pull off, that's an issue when you create realistic characters but they don't have good enough facial animations.

Usually that is solved with facial and/or full body mocap, but mostly studios creating AAA and AAAA games can afford to create lots of animations for that.
AI isn't that good at creating human models yet imo

To play devils advocate, what's the alternative?

Especially when it comes to on the fly generated content, the alternative is what, posting paid commissions for every single asset and hoping they get picked up?

The Sims DLC structure is horrendous, if they can avoid anything close, that's a plus.

Hiring people. The thing devs have been doing since the beginning of game developing. That sounds like a great alternative to me. Especially compared to using AI that generates art using content from artists who aren’t being paid for powering said AI and haven’t even given permission to do so.

The only way someone can compete with the Sims fairly is being another billion dollar company nickel and diming people.
